844 Page Immigration Bill - Significance?

Yes, I have read through the 844 page immigration bill introduced by the "Gang of Eight" Senators, and yes I have some thoughts on what it means.  First, for those who are still gaining familiarity with the legislative process, the bill is just one of thousands introduced each year that may or may not become law.  It has no legal effect yet, not until both the Senate and House vote on the bill and send it to the President for signature.  But when you look at 844 pages, and realize that four Democrats and four Republicans from the Senate agreed on that much, it makes you have hope.  There are certainly things that each side would like to change, but that's a lot of agreement, and makes me feel that this year is the year to fix the broken immigration system.
